Collaboration with Israel Marine Mammal Research & Assistance Center (IMMRAC)

About the project

Development of a mechanical solution that will serve as a replacement for the lazy line safety rope, enabling the reuse of trawl fleet equipment in the event of a malfunction, while preventing entanglement and dolphin mortality caused by the lazy line in trawl operations.

Israel Marine Mammal Research & Assistance Center (IMMRAC)

IMMRAC is a registered nonprofit that has operated for over three decades under the academic sponsorship of the Institute for Maritime Studies at the University of Haifa. The organization researches marine mammal populations, including whales, dolphins, monk seals, and dugongs, along Israel’s coasts and worldwide. IMMRAC is dedicated to preserving these populations, protecting them, and raising public awareness of their existence and their vital importance to our planet. The organization operates entirely through the efforts of volunteers. MENASIM’s collaboration with IMMRAC is part of a wider network of partnerships, all united by a shared mission: the protection and conservation of marine mammals.
